Ondoku is now multilingual! Making the top page even easier to use! August and September 2020 update details
Jan. 17, 2021
Hello, this is Ondoku.
It has already been five months since Ondoku was released in May. Time flies so fast; it will be half a year by next month.
I feel like the seasons changed all at once this year after the typhoon hit.
Every day, I can feel the seasons changing as it gets chillier.
Now, in this article, I will introduce the details of the updates that Ondoku carried out in August and September.
August/September 2020 Update Details
There were three major updates made by Ondoku in August and September.
- Display the website in multiple languages
- Display recommended articles on the top page
- Fix the email unsubscribe link
Display the website in multiple languages

The biggest update we made in August was, without a doubt, the multi-language display.
The Ondoku site can now be displayed in:
- English
- German
- French
- Arabic
- Russian
- Korean
- Chinese, and so on
It is now available in over 20 languages.
We asked translators for each language to translate the Japanese on the site into their respective languages.
It was a much harder update than expected and took over a month.
To use Ondoku's multi-language display, please select your preferred language from the section in the middle of the top page where it displays "[Language]".
When you click it, the Ondoku screen will refresh and switch to the selected language display.
The atmosphere changes a bit just by changing the language, so please take a look. It’s quite interesting.
If the display language does not change even though you have changed the language settings, please click the Ondoku logo. The language settings will be reset.
By the way, the site name for languages other than Japanese is now "Ondoku".
I debated quite a bit about whether to include "-san" (an honorific like Mr./Ms.), but since it became an honorific and felt strange when viewed in multiple languages, I decided to just go with "Ondoku" this time.
Display recommended articles on the top page

This is one of the updates carried out since the beginning of September.
Recommended articles are now displayed below the text-to-speech function on the Ondoku top page.
This mainly displays blog articles based on content that we receive many inquiries about.
Such as how to adjust pauses, commercial use, and how to write credit notation.
We decided to display links to the blog here so that you can easily find content you are curious about.
Since we want to be as simple and easy-to-understand a web service as possible, we only display the links without showing the blog content itself.
If we displayed the actual content on the top page, it would become cluttered. Also, it might make it harder to find the information you really want.
I hope to make various improvements and refinements in this area in the future.

Future update plans
In the future, Ondoku plans to:
- Update YouTube
- Update to a more user-friendly top page
- Fix the Google Chrome extension
- Create a WordPress extension
We will work hard on YouTube in particular, as we haven't been able to upload new videos recently.
I also want to post videos in languages other than Japanese!
I think few people notice, but I am busily updating the blog. If you'd like, please read some of the various articles there.
Your feedback is reflected in our updates
At Ondoku, we perform updates and get ideas like "maybe it's better this way" from daily inquiries.
I am confident that the voices of our users lead directly to updates more so than perhaps any other site.
In a sense, the Ondoku service is being built together with you.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us.
I am happy to be the most user-friendly text-to-speech software for you.
Thank you for your continued support of Ondoku.
