Ondoku Text-to-Speech Software: Reviews and Feedback Summary

Hello, this is Ondoku.

Ondoku is a relatively new text-to-speech service that started in May 2020.

  • Easy-to-use website design
  • High-quality text-to-speech can be used even for free
  • Very convenient and easy to use for users, as commercial use is also possible

These are the biggest attractions of Ondoku.

Because it is new, it is not quite easy to find word-of-mouth reports or reviews even if you search for them.

Therefore, this time we will introduce the impressions and opinions actually received by Ondoku as reviews and word-of-mouth reports.

Word-of-mouth and reviews of the text-to-speech software "Ondoku"

Ondoku receives many inquiries via email every day.

In addition, there are YouTube comment sections, Google Chrome extension reviews, and more.

Also, when paid members cancel, we ask them to provide a reason for cancellation.

Now, let's take a look at what kind of word-of-mouth reports and reviews there actually are!

Word-of-mouth and reviews received through inquiries

From a YouTuber

My name is ○○, and I upload videos to YouTube.

My videos only had subtitles without showing my face, so I felt they were lacking something, but I learned about the existence of text-to-speech software and wanted to use it, so after researching various options, I ended up at Ondoku.
The natural pronunciation, which I sometimes mistake for a human, is truly wonderful.
I am still a free member for the trial, but I would like to consider the paid version when I use it seriously.
Please keep up the good work with the management. And thank you in advance.

From a user

I converted text to speech using the free trial version of Ondoku
Generally, it is good, but depending on the text, there are unnatural parts such as accents.

From a corporate user

I was truly surprised by this quality at this low price.
I would definitely like to use it again.

Word-of-mouth and reviews received in the YouTube comment section

Ondoku's quality is high and it looks easy to use.
It costs at least 10,000 yen to set up a microphone and audio interface, so I think I'll use Ondoku!
br Chuunibyou Makki-san

I'm not confident in my face or voice, so I decided on Ondoku. Also, it's helpful that it can be used commercially, such as on YouTube.
by TKG video-san

I tried Ondoku after watching the video. I was surprised by the high quality. I tried paid text-to-speech software like CeVIO and Ondoku no Pro (SourceNext), etc., but Ondoku was not much different!
by Yamaguchi Local TV-san

The audio has become quite natural. Mac users have few options, so it's really helpful.
I have two requests.
One is the types of voices. I thought it would be even easier to use if it became clear whether only the four types of voices—Robot, Assistant, Announcer A, and Announcer B—can be used when Japanese is selected, or if others are not allowed.
The second is changing the intonation. Specifically, it would be really helpful if I could manually change the intonation when the pronunciation of something like "Super ○○ Store" is different. For example, it would be fine to open this function only to paid users, so please consider it. A simple method like "↑ha↓shi" or "↓ha↑shi" would be helpful.

Word-of-mouth and reviews received as reasons for cancellation

Since many cancellation reasons are short phrases, I will introduce them in a bulleted list.

  • I stopped using it.
  • Because the activity I wanted to use it for ended.
  • Because there are few voice variations.
  • I won't be using it for a while, so I'm canceling.
  • Because the necessary work has been completed for now. I think I will use it again.
  • I am canceling for now due to circumstances, but I plan to re-subscribe again.
  • Because I no longer need it at this point; I like the software, so I will sign up again when the timing is right.
  • Currently, I am canceling temporarily because the frequency of use has decreased. I will re-subscribe when the frequency of use increases again.

Looking at these, there are many opinions such as "no longer using it" or "not using it now but want to subscribe again."

I get the impression that few people feel dissatisfied with Ondoku itself.

As a creator, this is very gratifying. We are working with the development team to improve based on the dissatisfaction points we received.
