[Ondoku] How to use easily from the home screen like an app on iPhone [No installation required]

I want an Ondoku app

I want to be able to access it easily from the home screen

You want to be able to access a Web browser like Ondoku as easily as an iPhone app from your home screen, right?

In that case, please try this method.

Since you don't need to install it from the App Store, this method can actually be more convenient.

How to add the Ondoku app icon to your home screen

The method is very simple. There are 2 types:

  1. When using Safari
  2. When using a browser other than Safari, such as Chrome or Brave

If your browser is not "Safari" but

  • Google Chrome
  • Brave
  • Firefox

please continue reading from the Add an icon that can display Ondoku (using Shortcuts) section at the bottom of the page.

When using the Safari browser

This will add the Ondoku shortcut app to your "Home Screen".

We will introduce this in detail with images below.

Adding to the home screen using Safari is really easy.

  2. Tap the share button in the "Safari" menu
  3. Select the "Add to Home Screen" menu
  4. Tap "Add" in the top right of the "Add to Home Screen" dialog

That's it. Please check your home screen to see it displayed.

The method using Shortcuts takes a little bit of effort, but once you do it, you don't need to set it up again.

It's a bit of a hassle, but let's do our best to set it up.

  1. Open the "Shortcuts" app and tap Create Shortcut (or tap the plus icon in the top right).
  2. Tap Add Action → Web in that order.
  3. Select "Open URL", enter the URL you want to display, and select "Next". *1
  4. Enter the icon name and select "Done" to create the shortcut. Select the "..." on the created shortcut.
  5. Select "..." and select "Add to Home Screen".
  6. Edit the name and icon, then tap Add to complete.

*1: If you are using a browser other than Chrome, please replace it with "Open URL in Brave", "Open URL in Firefox", etc.

It has now been added to the home screen! It was a bit of work, but this makes accessing Ondoku very easy.

Please give it a try.
