Make Ondoku's text-to-speech even easier to use! July 2020 Update Details

Hello, this is Ondoku.

At Ondoku, we have implemented two new updates to make the service even easier for you to use!

In this article, we will explain the details of these updates.

July 2020 Update Details

There are two major updates this time.

  1. Displaying the site in English
  2. Preventing input text from disappearing when a reading error occurs

These are the updates.

Displaying the site in English

Displaying Ondoku in English

A few percent of Ondoku users access the site from overseas. It's quite surprising!

Consequently, we analyzed that some Ondoku users "are not native Japanese speakers."

English is the common language of the world.

We implemented this update so that users from overseas can use the site more easily and clearly by providing an English version of the site.

In the future, we hope to support languages other than English as well.

Displaying Ondoku pages in English

The method for displaying Ondoku pages in English is very simple.

To the right of the "Ondoku logo" at the top left of the Ondoku homepage, there is a pull-down menu that says "日本語" (Japanese).

When you click the pull-down menu, English will appear below.

Clicking this English option will reload the page and switch the display to English.

It may take a moment to load, but it will correctly display in English, so please give it a try!

To return to the Japanese display, click this pull-down menu and select 日本語 (Japanese).

Making the page available in English also offers great benefits for those who want to study English, in addition to overseas users.

When studying English, it is important to expose yourself to as much English as possible.

Using pages like this in English can often be a great way to learn.

We hope this helps those of you who are studying English, even just a little bit.

Preventing input text from disappearing when a reading error occurs

Preventing reading error text from disappearing

Another update is preventing text that caused a reading error from disappearing.

This update was based on inquiries we received.

The feedback we received was a sad report stating, "I took the time to enter a long text, but everything disappeared due to a reading error."

We are truly sorry for that.

Therefore, we implemented an update immediately.

Previously, the system was designed so that entered text would disappear because text that caused an error would often result in an error again if the input content remained the same.

However, we realized there is a need to edit that text, so with this update, we changed the specification to "text that causes a reading error will remain in the text box as is."

We hope this change helps you with your text reading tasks, even just a little.

In this way, Ondoku is making various updates based on the requests we receive.

A voice cannot reach others unless it is spoken.

If you have any opinions or requests, such as "I want this" or "I wish it could do that," please feel free to let us know via the inquiry form.

We are happy to strive to be the most user-friendly text-to-speech software for you.

Thank you for your continued support of Ondoku.
