[September 2020 Edition] Report on Current Errors and Recently Occurred Errors

Hello, this is Ondoku. At Ondoku, we receive various inquiries every day.

Among them, reports saying "An error is occurring" are quite a headache for us.

There are various causes, such as:

  • Browser issues
  • Internet issues
  • Issues with the customer's usage environment
  • Errors due to Ondoku updates
  • Server errors in the speech synthesis engine being used

There are many causes.

Also, it sometimes takes time to resolve the cause of an error.

We have summarized the errors currently occurring and reports of errors that have occurred recently.

Errors currently occurring

Currently, there is an error where certain sentences cannot be read aloud when the reading speed is set to a number between 0.1 and 1.

If the speed is set between 1.1 and 4, it can be read correctly.

We are currently investigating the cause while rushing to restore the service.

Reports of recently occurred errors

Errors due to a worldwide Google server error

An error due to a Google server error occurred around 10:00 on 2020/09/25.

On 2020/09/25, a worldwide server error occurred at Google.

As a result, some errors also occurred in Ondoku.

Google's server error has now been resolved, and errors caused by this are no longer occurring in Ondoku.

Error: "Cannot read text from image"

At Ondoku, we perform various updates little by little every day.

Some updates are visible to users, while others are internal.

In many cases, we are performing internal updates.

Actually, we performed a live update this morning as well.

The update was intended to shorten the image upload time when reading from images.

This had an unexpected impact elsewhere.

We received an immediate report from a customer who uses the service, saying:

"Even though I am reading text, an error message saying 'Cannot read text from image' appears."

This was the report we received.

It has now been restored and can be read normally.

What should I do if an error occurs?
